Liam Gallagher showed love for his rescue dog Buttons in an eye-catching tribute as Oasis performed on stage at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff for the first time in 16 years. Whilst most probably had their eyes on the frontman and brother Noel Gallagher throughout, there was plenty to see on the big screen behind them too.

An image was projected of a dog called Buttons, an abandoned dog saved by Liam and his partner Debbie, from a sanctuary in Thailand called Happy Doggo, founded by Niall Harbison, after she was put up for adoption.

Mr Harbison shared a post on social media platform X to give more details about the touching story, explaining how Buttons was a small puppy who walked into his sanctuary in Thailand in the middle of the jungle just as it was getting built.

He said it was noticeable that she had been abandoned as she “kept coming back daily for food and hoping for company”.

The dog rescuer added: “Little did I know but Liam and his partner Debbie had been following.

“After a long process she was adopted to them in the UK.

“Buttons has grown into a beloved member of the family and landed on her paws.”

Liam has been very supportive of Happy Doggo and donated a huge globe which featured on stage during his last tour to raise funds, Harbison revealed.

He noted: “I don’t think Buttons realises her dad is a rock star. She just loves her humans.

“So if you are wondering why there is a dog on the Oasis screens now you know.

“Well done Buttons. I think you can say you’ve made it when your dad has you on the big screen.”

Oasis fans were moved by the “rags to riches story” and many commented on Harbison’s post.

One said: “I love Oasis and Liam, just a little bit more. How cute it was to have Buttons in the imagery.”

Another added: “Buttons is blessed and living the best life that every dog just wishes to have.

“I’m surprised many more dogs haven’t found their way to the land.”

A third commented: “Buttons! She literally walked into your life, and Liam’s! Getting the word out, one concert at a time. Love it!”
